Binns & Bonito Signs

Binns Motor Inn and Bonito Motel are getting a new look – and a new name – for the 1968 tourist season! This post is to honor the signs that graced the heart of Wildwood throughout the Age of Doo Wop! These photos were taken on May 17th, 1966. (…Or, was that 2022?)

This is the former Bonito sign, adorning Spicer Avenue.

Like many signs of the Doo Wop era, this sign combines shadowbox letters with neon lights, and real, high-quality steel.

This 4×8 foot sign for Bonito Motel was found on the south side, along Spencer Avenue. Its been removed in the renovations, and I, Stella Star, am proud to have preserved the sign, and am now its caretaker!

Bonito Motel’s older sister, Binns Motor Inn, has a sign with dazzling Vegas Bulbs that flash around the perimeter, and a neon vacancy sign.

This sign is along Atlantic Avenue.

Here is another Binns sign, on the Spicer Avenue side. In the background, you can see the Bonito sign, too.

In the lobby, a beautiful lady is hanging around on the wall. In a cubicle, you can also see a photo of Bonito sign at night, with its older sign prominently displayed.

On the lobby wall, you can also find this photo of Bonito Motel and a sign on the Spencer Avenue side.

Here is one more photo of Binns Motel’s sign, photographed from room 209 on the second floor.
