Stella Star at the 1984 Cheerleading Competition, Part 1

During the winter and spring of 1984 (or, was that 2023?), Wildwood hosted cheerleading competitions. I was a cheerleader for The Rockets early in The Age of Doo Wop. I found out that The Rockets still existed in The Wildwood of Tomorrow. This excited me, so I took several trips to the Awesome 1980s, whenContinue reading “Stella Star at the 1984 Cheerleading Competition, Part 1”

Traffic Boxes, Part 3: Atlantic Avenue

We continue along Rio Grande Avenue on our adventure to all the traffic boxes. Our next stop: Atlantic Avenue! These photos were taken on November 19th, 1966. (…Or, was that 2023?) Facing south, some juvenile delinquent marked the traffic box with spray paint, defacing a beautiful scene featuring a family, Mom, Dad, and baby, onContinue reading “Traffic Boxes, Part 3: Atlantic Avenue”

The Blute Museum with Stella Star

There is a unique property in Wildwood called The Blute Museum. Since this is a private residnce, I won’t be posting the address, but you may have seen it in your travels around Doo Wop City. This is only the beginning of my journey here. In the future, I’ll share with you much more ofContinue reading “The Blute Museum with Stella Star”

Traffic Boxes, Part 2: Pacific Avenue

Last time, I posted my husband’s photos of the traffic box on New Jersey Avenue. We now continue down Rio Grande Avenue to the next cross street towards the ocean: Pacific Avenue. These photos were taken on November 19th, 1966. (…Or, was that 2022?) Marvis Diner, and its Doo Wop style logo, underwent an expansionContinue reading “Traffic Boxes, Part 2: Pacific Avenue”

Stella Star Makes a Splash in the Bonito Pool

These photos were taken on September 14th, 1966. (…Or, was that 2022?) It’s the mid-60s, and draped bust one-piece swimsuits are all the rage in ladies’ summer fashion! Since it’s the last days of summer, I’m catching in as many of the sun’s rays as I can before autumn begins. I’m just relaxing, looking goodContinue reading “Stella Star Makes a Splash in the Bonito Pool”

Traffic Boxes Part 1: New Jersey Avenue

Upon entering Doo Wop City from route 47, Rio Grande Avenue greets Wildwood’s residents and visitors. This main east-west thoroughfare is adorned with painted traffic boxes, artfully decorated by the same ones responsible for the BIll Haley and His Comets mural. These boxes are on every major intersection on the way to the beach. Today,Continue reading “Traffic Boxes Part 1: New Jersey Avenue”

This is the third in a series of seven non-consecutive posts about Stella’s fabulous day at Summer Nites Bed & Breakfast in North Wildwood NJ. I mentioned a fewContinue reading “Stella’s Day of Summer Nites Part 3: Dining Room, Continued”
