Every time the sun greets itself on Doo Wop City, it brings with it all the possibilities of the day ahead. Here are a few pictures I photographed at sunrise on Tuesday, June 15th, 1965 (…Or was that 2021?)
Guests were still asleep in their motel rooms, and residents were just waking up for work. The Wildwoods sign awaits patiently for everyone to get out of bed and starting taking photographs of it. Today, I am an early bird, here before other people get into the shots. Notice how the brick work in the circle court looks like another beach ball.
Everything has a slightly different hue when the morning sun first arrives, struggling to make its presence known through some clouds drifting through the Eastern sky.
You can see the early morning sun, peeking over the left side of the W in, “Wild(Woods)”.
The Wildwoods sign has been photographed so many times that the number can’t be counted, but you never see a view from this striking angle! The sun is visible within the second W.
Before long, the Wildwoods sign will be greeted by so many tourists.
